Gerald (Tony) A. Slaughter, 78, of Covington, passed away on August 9, 2025. Born on June 8, 1947, Gerald lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leola Slaughter; brothers Richard Slaughter and Danny Ray Slaughter; and his parents, Howard and Dorothy Slaughter.
Gerald is survived by his sisters Deloris (Polly) Lee and Rebecca Evans; sister-in-law Barbara Slaughter; and brothers Howard Slaughter, Phillip Slaughter, Mark Slaughter, and Scott Slaughter. He also leaves behind stepchildren Jerome Montgomery and Cody Montgomery; nieces and nephews, James (Rod), Crystal, Jatha, Karin, Garrett, John, Danny, Amy, Abby, BJ, Haley, Elizabeth, Laine, Walker, Waylon, Mason, and Lauren; as well as many great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, and cousins.
A devoted family man, Gerald found joy in traveling, eating out, and spending time with his loved ones. He was an active supporter of the Lions Club and happiest when outdoors, especially in his swing or sitting on his front porch. Known for his warm heart, playful nicknames, and favorite sayings “That’ll work” and “I said…” Gerald loved children and gave selflessly without expecting anything in return.
Gerald was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service to honor Gerald's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home, located at 1215 Access Road, Covington, GA 30014. Friends are invited to visit with the family at Caldwell and Cowan Funeral home an hour prior to the service, from 1:00- 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Covington Lions Club.
