Obituary

With profound sadness and deep love, his family announces the passing of Gerald McCloud, who entered his heavenly reward July 2, 2026.

Mr. McCloud was born August 19, 1943 to John Beeson McCloud, Jr and Annie Ruth Potter McCloud, growing up in Rossville, Georgia, with his sisters Phyllis Anne and Sheila Kay.

He worked the majority of his career with Snapper, first in sales and then managing a distributorship. His work ethic, integrity, and commitment earned respect from colleagues and customers alike.

Above all else, Mr. McCloud was unwaveringly devoted to his family. He married Glenda Barberee February 21, 1964, and they lovingly raised their daughters in Rossville, Georgia before living in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and then in retirement, Oxford, Georgia.

Mr. McCloud was a dedicated Mason, beginning his journey on May 15, 1976 as a member of Rossville Lodge No. 387. On March 12, 2013, he affiliated with Golden Fleece Lodge No. 6 in Covington, Georgia, and furthered his Masonic light through the York Rite. Throughout his Masonic journey, he faithfully exemplified the principles of Freemasonry and the York Rite, leaving a legacy of friendship, service, and devotion to the Craft.

Mr. McCloud enjoyed gardening, working on small engines, making pens, woodworking, and going on mission trips. He was a dedicated Christian and member of First Baptist Church of Covington.

In addition to his parents and sisters, Mr. McCloud is now also reunited with his infant daughter, Janet Renee.

Left to honor his memory as they grieve his loss are his wife, Glenda; daughters, Terran McCloud (Doug) Newman and Teresa McCloud (Scott) Sauls; grandchildren, Mallory Sauls (Drew) Parker, Hunter (Peyton) Newman, Madison Sauls (Chris) Dubois, Caleb Sauls, Cooper (Avery) Newman, and Cade Mitchell; plus great-grandchildren, Harley Parker, Naomi DuBois, Brenner DuBois, and Landry Parker. Several nieces and nephews plus a host of friends also mourn his passing as they cherish his memory.

Mr. McCloud's memorial service will be Sunday, July 5, with visitation from 12:30 to 2:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm, at Cowan & Caldwell Funeral Home's chapel in Covington, GA. The service will be officiated by Dr. Cody McNutt.

A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens South in Rossville, GA Tuesday, July 7 at 1:00pm. The service will be conducted by Dr. David Lively, Mr. McCloud's brother-in-law. Afterward, Masonic graveside rites will be conducted in honor of Brother McCloud's faithful service to the Craft.

Flowers will be welcomed, as will donations to the building fund of First Baptist Church of Covington.
