Freddie Samuel Ivey, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the age of 81. Mr. Ivey was a loving husband, devoted father, and a man who cherished his family above all else. He found joy in the simple things like gardening, hunting and fishing, cooking, and building. With his own hands, he even built the family home that became the heart of so many memories.
He was happiest with a cigarette in one hand, a cold beer in the other, surrounded by those he loved. Tough yet fair, wonderful and unselfish, Mr. Ivey lived life with strength, honesty, and love. His family and friends will carry his memory with deep pride and affection.
He was preceded in death by his Daughter, Cheryl Page; parents, Reber and Tinie Ivey; brother, Melvin Ivey; and sister, Elsie Smith
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Maxine Ivey; daughter, Christine Crecelius; sons, Tony Ivey, Johnny Ivey, Kenneth Ivey, Neal Ivey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Ivey will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, 12 Noon, in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Tony Crecelius officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family two hours prior to his service from 10:00 A.M. - 12 Noon, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
