Obituary

Elaine Edith Griffin, age 79, went home to be with Jesus on June 28, 2026. She was born on December 9, 1946, to Sam and Edith Ingram. Elaine is survived by her husband Raymond Griffin, her two daughters Andrea Hayes and Chanda Griffin, her stepson, Jeff Griffin, and her favorite son-in-law, Chuck Hayes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Benjamin Hayes and his wife, Logan; Nicholas Hayes and his wife Anna; and her youngest grandson, the apple of her eye, Max Harwell. She leaves behind a beloved sister, Karen Stafford, her well-loved nieces and nephews who called her, “Aunt Lane”, and numerous friends some that Elaine knew for over 60 years.

Elaine lived a life distinguished by kindness and a profound love for her family and friends. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, cherished grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. Her greatest joy was found in her family; she devoted her life to caring for, encouraging and uplifting those she loved. She enjoyed spending time at home, laughing over a good meal, family gatherings, and working in her yard and flower beds. When her grandsons were little, you could find her playing with Rescue Heroes, listening to the Wiggles, dancing to the Hokey Pokey, and searching for frogs in the yard.

Anywhere she went, Elaine was famously known to strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone and typically had the motto, “Strangers are just friends waiting to happen.” Her favorite place to vacation was at Walt Disney World where you could often find her sitting on Main Street, people-watching and waiting for the afternoon parade with a big Mickey-shaped cinnamon roll in her hand.

Though her family mourns her passing, they rejoice at the promise of eternal life she has in Christ and take comfort in knowing that she is now healed, whole, and at peace in Heaven. Elaine's life was a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, and devotion to her family. Her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched and the value she instilled in those she knew and loved.

A celebration of life service will be held at Eastridge Community Church located at 863 Hwy. 142 in Covington, Georgia on July 11th at 11 AM. All who attend are invited to remain for a celebration luncheon where stories of her life can be shared over a good meal. Though we say goodbye for now, we rejoice in the promise of seeing her again. Until that day, Elaine will remain forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
