Earl “Barry” Kirby Jr., 62, of Monticello passed away peacefully at The McGraw Center Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida on October 7, 2024.
Barry was born in Atlanta, GA. on October 25, 1961, to Earl Sr. and Patricia (Turner) Kirby. He grew up in Conley, GA and graduated from Forest Park High School.
Barry worked for over 40 years in the commercial metal framing and architectural glazing industry. Beginning as a shop helper with his father at Arrow Glass, Barry worked his way up the ladder in several companies over his lengthy career, working as a foreman, draftsman, and eventually project manager with T&L Services, drafting engineer and Plant Supervisor with Trainer Glass, and Plant Supervisor at Glass Systems, Inc., which is the role he had at the time he retired in March 2023.
Barry always loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his family. It is for that reason he and his family relocated to Monticello in 2001. Barry and Lisa created a loving home on this beautiful property for their children and grandchildren to enjoy time there.
In September 2023, Barry was listed on the liver transplant list and began traveling to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Six months later, Barry moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter to be closer to the transplant team and his healthcare team.
Barry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lisa Kirby of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl, formerly of Monticello; children, Brandon Kirby of Monticello and Andrea Kirby of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; grandchildren Katherine Kirby, Brandon Kirby Jr., Lilith Kirby, and Eden Jackson; siblings Dianna Kirby of Monticello, GA, Deborah Gore of Desloge, MO, and Donna Boone of Douglasville, GA.; several nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and colleagues.
Barry was preceded in death by parents Earl Barry Kirby Sr. and Patricia Ruth (Turner) Kirby.
