Donna Helen Bonkowski, 83, of Oxford, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, at Prema Assisted Living at Ashton Hills in Covington, Georgia, surrounded by her family.

About Her

Those who knew Donna will remember her warm smile, her generous spirit, her kind heart, and her gift for friendship. She made friends wherever she went, and her kindness will stay with everyone who knew her.

Early Life

Donna was born on March 8, 1943, in Chester, Pennsylvania, to John and Helen (Machman) Doall

Her Life

Over the years, Donna worked for several banks as well as Mobil and Valspar. She also gave generously of her time, volunteering at Merryvale Assisted Living Center, the Newton County Library, and the Newton County Board of Elections. She loved playing bridge and spending time on her cross-stitching, and she was a faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Family

Donna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who took great pride in her family, and she was looking forward to becoming a great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Kim) Bonkowski; her grandson, Brayden (Page) Bonkowski, and a great-grandchild on the way; her nephews, Steven Myers and Brian (Vicki) Myers; her nieces, Judy Daniels and Brenda (Ken) Allen; and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bonkowski; her parents, John and Helen Machman Doall; her brother, John Doall; and her sister, Joan Myers.

Later Years

In her later years, Donna faced the challenges of dementia with the love and support of her family and caregivers. Her family is especially grateful to the staff at Prema Assisted Living at Ashton Hills and Southern Grace Hospice for the compassion, dignity, and care they provided to her.

Her Legacy

Although she will be deeply missed, her family take comfort in the many memories she leaves behind and in the love she gave so freely to those around her.

Services

A memorial visitation  will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Covington, Georgia on October 1, 2026 from 3-5pm , followed by a Funeral Mass at 5pm.

Memorial Contributions

The family asks that donations be made in Donna’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Flowers will also be accepted. The family would also like to express its deepest gratitude to the staff at Prema Assisted Living at Ashton Hills and Southern Grace Hospice for the love, compassion, and dignity that they provided to their Mom and their family.
