Donald Bradford Turner, of Covington, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at the age of 86. Mr. Turner was a devoted man of faith, family, and service whose life touched countless hearts. He faithfully served as a pastor since 1990 and ministered at Lithonia Central Baptist Church from 1991–2001. He also dedicated his time to jail ministries, Pure Heart Ministries and was currently serving as a beloved Sunday School Teacher.
A proud graduate of Luther Rice Seminary and veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Turner also faithfully served his community first as a city councilman and later as Mayor of Oxford.
He loved worshiping the Lord, spending time with his family, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and Ole Miss Rebels. Known for never meeting a stranger, Mr. Turner will be remembered as a kind and generous man with a heart of gold whose love for God, family, and others left a lasting legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bura and Virginia Turner; and brother, James Bura Turner.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Turner; daughters, Kathy Lynch, Kellye Stellman (Keith), Caroline Hargrove (Chad); sons,Tony Hammond (Janet), Todd Davis (Brooke); grandchildren, Marc, Kyle, Patrick, Chasity, Courtney, Leigh, Addye, Melissa, Carlie, Emma, Helena, Cora, Houston, Brett, Bryanna, Kyle D.; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother, Michael Turner.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Turner will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, 11:00 A.M., at Zion Baptist Church, 7037 Highway 212, in Covington, with interment following in Zion Baptist Cemetery, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church one hour prior to his service.
