Claudine Marina Jones (Ms. Jones, Mom, Mama) passed away on May 3rd, 2026, in Covington, Georgia, at the age of 84.
Claudine was born on September 4th, 1941in Black River, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, W.I. Claudine spent her formative years in Black River where she was nurtured, loved and care for. She was active in the Methodist Church, sang on the choir and never ceased to give God thanks for his grace, goodness and mercy towards her. She left her hometown and went to Kingston to pursue secretarial studies where she met Hylton Jones and later got married and settled in her hometown of Black River. The union produced seven (7) children, her daughter Nova Jones-Small, son-in-law Paul, son Wayne Jones, Donovan Jones a.k.a (DJ) daughter-in-law Sheryl, daughters Judith Gooden, son-in-law Gary, Deanne Jones-Cherilus, son-in-law Yves , Alison Park son-in- law Raul and Dwight Jones (deceased). Mom made a conscious decision to settle in the role of Homemaker to care for her family the best way she knew. She dutifully carried out this role in one way or another as her care extended to the spouses, the grandchildren and their spouses, the great-grandchildren and the extended family.
In 1982, Mom migrated to the US, Brooklyn, NY, where she worked tirelessly as a Home Health Aid for ten (10) years. Mom, mama stayed true to her call to are for others above self, no matter what it takes. Maybe embedded in the name Claudine is the word “strength” a character trait Mom so effortlessly displayed even when at times the going seemed rough. Claudine retired early after injuring her ankle. In 2005 she moved to Covington, Georgia when Nova and her family relocated there. She was a good neighbor and trusted friend. Mom believed that people should live in love and harmony and that family should care for each other, love each other and look out for each other. She leaves behind six (6) children, twenty-one (21) grandchildren, twenty-one (21) great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends, to mourn her passing.
Claudine will be remembered as a phenomenal woman who in her own quiet way impacted the lives of not only her immediate family, but all who were privileged to know her. We thank God for her life, her love, and her witness and pray that like her, we will make our years count however the path leads. Mom, we love and thank you for your legacy and the memories we now hold dear. May the angels usher you in that place of quiet rest and may your soul rest in eternal, peace and rise in glory!
