Charmane Ward, passed away February 23, 2026, at the age of 78. Mrs. Ward will be remembered for her boundless love, vibrant spirit, and unwavering kindness. A woman with a heart the size of Texas, she was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Compassionate, witty, and wonderfully gregarious, she had a gift for making people laugh and was truly the life of every gathering she attended.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—working out in her yard, playing spirited games of UNO or Aggravation with family and friends, and expressing her creativity through canvas painting. Weekends were often spent enjoying trips to the casino, visiting the beauty shop, and treating herself to ice cream along the way.
In her later years, Mrs. Ward made her home in Houston, Texas, where she built a happy and fulfilling life surrounded by many dear friends. Tenacious in spirit and generous in love, she leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of laughter that will live on in all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Pascal Nelson and Albertine Garrett.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen Graves, Lori Millwood; son, Michael Lang; sisters, Joyce Dudley, Joan Zager; granddaughters, LaKeesha Smith, Kayla Lang; grandson, James Graves; several great-grandchildren in Texas, Alabama, and North Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews in Alabama, South Carolina, and Florida.
