Charles Herman Bradford, 84, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
Born on December 12, 1941, Herman was raised in Porterdale, Georgia. He accepted Christ as his Savior in 1964 at Canaan Baptist Church and remained a faithful servant throughout his life, serving as a deacon at both Canaan Baptist Church and Newton Baptist Church for many Years.
In 1957, Herman met the love of his life, Maggieleen Goss. They married on June 11, 1960, beginning a beautiful love story that lasted 66 years. Together they built a life centered on Christ, love, family, and unwavering devotion to one another. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment and grace, and anyone who knew them knew just how deeply they loved each other.
Herman dedicated much of his life to a career in law enforcement, serving his community with integrity and honor. His example of integrity and service established a legacy that continues today through three generations of Bradford men in law enforcement. Outside of work, Herman enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and carpentry. He loved working with his hands, spending time outdoors, and sharing those passions with family andfriends through things he would make. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends at the campsites in the mountains.
Above all else, Herman cherished his family. He was a faithful husband, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a steady example of Christ’s love. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, wisdom, and unwavering faith will continue to guide those who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. and Nellie Kate Bradford; his brothers, William “Bill”, Jerry, and Ricky Bradford; and his sisters, Joyce Floyd and Christine Thompson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Maggie Bradford; his sons, Stephen (Kristi), Philip (Dalleen), and Casey (Cathy); his nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Stephen Jr., Robert, Drew, Claire, Olivia, Mariah, Salexis, Trinity and two great-grandchildren, Selah, and Raylan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
While his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing that Herman’s faith has become sight. His legacy of love, service, and devotion to God and family will live on for generations to come. Herman’s life reflects to us through scripture,
2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith…”
