Cecil
Thompson
Apr 18, 1944 — Aug 12, 2026
Cecil Thompson, age 82, of Covington, Georgia, passed away on August 12, 2026. He was born on April 18, 1944, in Dothan, Alabama, and lived a life marked by hard work, honesty, and devotion to the people he loved most. Cecil was a loving, generous, and friendly man who never met a stranger. He had a warm presence and a straightforward way about him that those who knew him came to appreciate and remember. He was always brutally honest, and while he spoke plainly, he did so with a good heart and a sincere spirit. Cecil took pride in being dependable and in living life with integrity. He loved to piddle in the yard and found joy in simple things, especially when he could spend time outdoors and keep busy with his hands. A hard worker throughout his life, Cecil understood the value of dedication and perseverance. Above all else, he loved his family deeply. He was married to Pat Thompson for 53 years, and their long marriage was a testament to their commitment, love, and shared life together. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Beechum Thompson, his wife, Pat Thompson, and his brothers, Bubba Thompson and Roger Thompson. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory always. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Clint Hall, Sheri and Chris Moreau, and Sheila and Greg White. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Laken and Justin Cofer, Melissa and Shane Crenshaw, Jason Thornhill, Amanda and Matthew Rice, and Jordyn and Dax Oliver, along with nine great-grandchildren who brought him great joy. Cecil especially loved his grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. His family meant everything to him, and his presence will be deeply missed at gatherings, in conversations, and in the everyday moments that made life special. The love he gave, the honesty he lived by, and the kindness he showed in his own way will remain a lasting part of the lives he touched. Those who knew Cecil will remember a man who was steady, sincere, and full of heart. His life was one of devotion to family, hard work, and simple pleasures, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
