Obituary

Billy Franklin Reid, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the age of 86. Mr. Reid was a man who truly loved life and never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good time. Known for his playful sense of humor and love of practical jokes, he could bring a smile to anyone he met. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR races, and spending time watching westerns. Some of his favorite moments were gathered around the grill cooking with his brothers.

A devoted father, provider, and family man, Mr. Reid loved his family deeply and always put them first. He was patient, kind, and never met a stranger. His home was always open to anyone in need, and no one ever left his house hungry—he made sure you ate before you went on your way.

Mr. Reid will be remembered for his generous heart, welcoming spirit, and the love he shared with family and friends. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will live on in the many lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Reid; daughter, Rebecca Reid; parents, George and Flora Reid; siblings, Geneva Davis, Shirley Sharpton, Sandra Reid, Tom Reid, Jerry Reid, Terry Reid, Daniel Reid, Allen Reid, and Ricky Reid.

Survivors include his children, Rhonda Reid, Kenneth Reid (Micheal Slavant); siblings, Barbra Pittman, and Ronnie Reid.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Reid will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, 2:00 P.M., in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family Friday, from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
