Betty Jo Bailey

Betty Jo Chester Bailey, 91, of Covington, entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord on September 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at home.

A service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, September 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, Covington, with Rev. Joel Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00–2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the same location.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Claude Bailey, and her parents, James and Ora Chester.

Betty Jo’s life was a rich blessing to her family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Rick Forrest, Steve Forrest, Donna Mote, and Rhonda Pritchett; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind four brothers, three sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply.

A longtime and faithful member of Zion Baptist Church, Betty Jo lived out her faith with quiet strength and unwavering devotion. She retired from a distinguished career with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and later served her church family in many meaningful ways.

Betty Jo loved her garden, her church, and her family with her whole heart. Yet above all, her greatest joy was found in her relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived as a true example of His love, leaving a legacy of faith and grace that will continue to inspire her family for generations. Her loyal companion, Jack, her beloved dog, will miss her presence.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now completely healed, rejoicing in her eternal home, and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
