Lenora Moss Darby

Annie Lenora Darby, of Covington, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 98. Born July 23, 1927 to Frank and Georgia Callahan Moss. Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Ernest (Bud) Darby, and brothers, Edwin Moss, Joe Moss, Jim Moss, and George Moss. Survived by her four children, Priscilla (late Gary) Mills, Renita (Jimmy) Little, Ernie (MaryAnn) Darby, Glynn Darby (Cathy), her ten grandchildren, Greg (Tabitha) Mills, Dani (Phillip) McSwain, Susie (Wayne) Chambers, Doug Little, Crystal Hughes, Ernie Jr Darby (Nick), Amanda (Adam) Heintz, Morgan Darby, Austin (Ayana) Darby, and Logan Darby, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, thirty-three great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild, and nephews Jim and Scotty Moss.

Mrs. Lenora Darby, a beloved and devoted woman of faith, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to God. A graduate of Heard-Mixon High School and Perry Business College, Mrs. Darby dedicated her career to Oxford Manufacturing Co., where she later retired.

As the oldest member of High Point Baptist Church, she faithfully served in the nursery department for twenty-one years. She also attended The Potter’s House for several years and played a key role in helping to establish both Midway and Oxford Baptist Churches. Her deep love for her adopted church family was evident in all she did.

Mrs. Darby found great joy in cooking, reading, and playing Bingo. Her strong faith guided her life—she proudly read the Bible in its entirety fourteen times. She will be remembered for her kind heart, steadfast spirit, and lifelong devotion to God and others.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Darby will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025, 12:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington with interment following in High Point Baptist Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Wednesday, October 29, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
