Alfred John Mugridge, age 91, of Oxford, Georgia, passed away on July 19, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose creative spirit and craftsmanship left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Mugridge; children, Alison Mugridge and Jay Mugridge; parents, Alfred and Mary Mugridge; and brother Michael Mugridge.
A craftsman whose talents touched many, John’s legacy will endure in the memories and hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered not only for his creative prowess but also for the kindness and warmth he shared with everyone around him.
He is remembered by his cherished daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin Mugridge-Banfield and Mark Banfield, and Clare (Ken) McLaren; son and daughter-in-law, Richard (Bonnie) Mugridge; grandchildren, Hannah, Trenton, Jared, and Lindsay; as well as his great-grandchildren, River, Reata, Stella, and Oliver, who brought him immense joy.
John proudly served in the Royal Air Force, where he dedicated himself to his country. His resourcefulness extended far beyond his military service; he was a self-taught artisan with a passion for various crafts. Alfred delighted in leatherwork, woodwork, and the creation of musical instruments, bringing beauty and function together in these handmade treasures. His artistic talents also included painting, allowing him to express the world around him through vibrant colors and skillful strokes. John's ability to create with his hands was a testament to his ingenuity and love for the arts.
