Ruby Straley Obituary
Ruby Straley of Covington, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018, at the age of 92. A longtime and active member of The United Methodist Women's Group, Mrs. Straley attended Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, where she also sang in the choir, and, in more recent years, was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church, in Conyers. Her loving demeanor, servant's heart and fierce independence made her a natural caregiver. In addition to raising her children while her husband, Mack, served in the military, Mrs. Straley used her gifts to provide exceptional care for him upon his return from Vietnam, as well as attending to the needs of her son, Mack, II. She will be remembered as a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Straley was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Straley; son, Mack Straley, II; parents, John and Tinia (Dean) Flint; as well as nine sisters and brothers.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Stewart Roberts of Covington, grandchild, Steven Whitehead of Oxford; great-grandchildren, Nicklas Matthews, Bryson Whitehead; great-great-grandchild, Aurielle Ruby Matthews; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and John Drozdz of Trinity, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Straley will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018, 2:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Zack Martin officiating and interment following in Walnut Grove United Methodist Cemetery, 915 Church Way, in Loganville. Friends may join the family at the funeral home for visitation Friday, November 9, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or memorial donations may be made to: Crossroads United Methodist Church, 2460 Old Hwy 138 NE, Conyers, GA 30013; or to your favorite charity.
