Mary Forester Obituary
Mary Pearce Forester of Covington, died Sunday, November 13, 2016, at the age of 91, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sam and Gertie Mae Pearce, husband, Clyde Forester, and her son, Clyde E. (Chuck) Forester. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. She was the stay-at-home mother to eight children until she entered the workforce of the DeKalb County School system. There she worked for over 25 years until she retired as the Lunchroom Manager from Rock Chapel Elementary School. She was grandmother to 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Mary was a strong Christian with a deep faith that was demonstrated by her life of concern and interest for her family and friends. She was world traveler, always interested in learning about new cultures and people. She was also a voracious reader; however, her favorite topic was her family. Her loving personality and independence will be remembered by all she knew.
She is survived by her daughters, Martha Jo Russell of Gainesville, Marilyn (Richard) Hall of Covington, Kathy Lamon of Gainesville; and sons, Carl Forester of Covington, Roger (Jane) Forester of Conyers, Jimmy Forester of Covington, and Fred Forester of Canton.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Forester will be held Thursday, November 17, 2016, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Rev. Kathy Lamon and Rev. Beverly Casstevens officiating. Interment will follow in Hillandale Memorial Gardens, 6201 Hillandale Drive, in Lithonia. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service, from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gainesville First United Methodist Church, Honduras School Mission Fund, 2780 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30506, or a charity of your choice.
