Francis Faxon Obituary

Francis "Fran" George Faxon of Social Circle, passed away June 17, 2018, at the age of 90. Mr. Faxon proudly served his country for 20 years as a chief petty officer in the United States Navy during WWII, Korean conflict, and Vietnam conflict. A patriotic American and servant to people, he taught ROTC at Penn State. He retired at the age of 88 as a building official for Greene County, GA. Mr. Faxon was a member of Kiwanis Club, American Legion, Children of the American Revolution, Elks Club, LOABA, as well as president of Fran Faxon Scholarship Program. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lewis; mother, Pauline Kimmy; and father, Henry Clifford Faxon.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Maudine Faxon; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Glen Criswell; sons and daughters-in-law, Russell A. Sr., and Sharell Lewis, Anthony and Terrie Lewis; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Faxon will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018, 2:00 PM, at Sewell United Methodist Church, 1660 Sewell Church Rd., Mansfield, with Pastor Larry Clayton and Pastor John Ozley officiating. Interment will follow in Sewell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Wednesday, June 20, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.
