Darold Vissering Obituary
Darold Dean Vissering of Social Circle, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at the age of 82. Mr. Vissering served sixteen years in the Air Force and four years in the Navy before moving to Newton County in 1974. After serving his country, he began a thirty-three-year career at the Covington Post Office. Mr. Vissering was a member of Eastside Scottish Rite, Knights Templar and the Golden Fleece Lodge #6. He was raised as a Master Mason in 1966. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, traveling and visiting family members. Mr. Vissering was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Wilma (Hike) Vissering; brother, Logan Vissering.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Vissering; sons and daughter-in-law, Darold A. and Deborah Vissering, Chris Vissering; grandchildren and their spouses, Allen and Andrea Weaver, Derek and Keri Vissering, Devin and Katelynn Vissering, Erica Drake Vissering; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Peyton, Emily, Gabriel; sisters and brother-in-law, Carol Zoll, Marie and Richard Madson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen Vissering, Norman and Linda Vissering, Wendell and Linda Vissering, Gary and Colette Vissering; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Vissering will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Bill Harris officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington, with Military Honors and Masonic Rights. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home, Friday, May 10, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
