As
an independently-owned and community-based funeral service provider, we pride
ourselves in offering personalized choices, while also making your decisions
affordable. Whether the death occurs locally, or far away, our staff can
provide you with the service and direction you need to arrange a beautiful
memorial that fits within your budget. Regardless of your service choices, you
can expect personal service and an attention to detail that will make any
funeral service a memorable and meaningful tribute.
Funeral Services:
Traditional: A Traditional Funeral Service
is the most common type of funeral service. This type of service provides a special
tribute to the life
of a loved one by: bringing together the relatives and friends to pay their
last respects; providing a visitation and a viewing at the place of worship or
funeral home; involving a minister or other official to oversee the service;
providing a funeral ceremony at the funeral home or place of worship; including
a procession to the cemetery for a final committal service. While a Traditional
Funeral Service has some standard protocols, it does not mean the family is
without additional choices. Some examples of how this type of service can be
personalized include: the selection of special music; the reading of a eulogy
by a friend or loved one; adding special prayer cards or memorial folders; the
placing of photographs, mementos or remembrances in the casket or on display in
their own special section, etc. Caldwell and Cowan's
Funeral Directors
are here to discuss the many options available to you, and to coordinate all
the details necessary to make this funeral service memorable.
Non-Traditional:
Often called a "Non-Traditional Funeral Service" or "Contemporary Funeral
Service", this arrangement allows for paying last respects in a more informal
manner. For example, an individual may choose to hold a Contemporary Memorial
Gathering rather than a more formal "traditional" visitation. This can be
anything from a small gathering of family and close friends, to a larger
community-style gathering. During a Contemporary Memorial Gathering, there are
few, if any, scheduled events. Instead, eulogies, poems, or memories can be
offered by friends or family at will, music or favorite songs can be played as
appropriate and personal mementos, videos, or photographs can be communally
shared. The gathering can take place in the funeral home, at the gravesite or
place of interment or in a private home or other place of special meaning.
Families may choose to include an open or closed casket, or place the urn in an informal
gathering. Our Funeral Directors have experience in coordinating and arranging
all the details necessary to make a Non-Traditional Service a meaningful and
lasting memorial.
Personalized: Along with the rapid increase
in popularity of pre-planning funeral
services, more and more people are choosing to personalize their final
tributes. The idea behind personalization is that families can choose any
funeral option or service and add personal touches and memories to make it
special.

Caldwell and Cowan offers a wide
variety of merchandise

For example, the personalization of a ceremony can be accomplished by:
memory tables; picture boards; unique floral arrangements; music arrangements; or use
of personal items of special meaning to the deceased.
Recently, Caldwell and Cowan added the "Memories
By Design" service (Click here to read more...)
which allows families to celebrate the life of loved ones through a remembrance
DVD or video. The DVD/video is comprised of favored photos, music, and other keepsakes of
the deceased and is highlighted during the visitation service. The
DVDs/videos serve as special heirlooms designed to honor loved ones and can be
passed down to future generations. One can also create a personalized casket
via interior or exterior color selection, type of fabric, using individualized
corner pieces, or by engraving a message or eulogy for all to read. The options
are almost unlimited. At Caldwell and Cowan, we encourage you to tell us your
ideas for any funeral service. We have created a variety of unique ways to add
special touches and memories for your loved one.
W
hether you choose a Traditional Funeral Service, or one that is highly
individualized, you can have full confidence in the trusted staff at Caldwell
and Cowan Funeral Home. We pride ourselves in providing personalized choices,
while also making your funeral service decisions affordable. Our Funeral
Directors strive daily to give families personal service and an attention to
