Verline (Nellie) Hall

Verline (Nellie) Hall of Covington, passed away January 28, 2017, at the age of 86. Mrs. Hall, an employee of Bibb Manufacturing and Beaver Manufacturing for many years, also worked for Oxford Industries. She was currently a member of County Line Baptist Church and attended High Point Baptist Church in past years. Working in her yard and quilting were favorite pastimes for Mrs. Hall. She took pleasure in making things for her children and will be remembered for making blankets for Christmas gifts one year. Affectionately known as "Granny" to her family and friends, she was regarded as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Hall also had a gift for singing and playing the guitar. During camping trips, she would share her love of music with others as they gathered around her campsite listening to her sing and play. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Hall; son, Tim Hall; sister, Betty Johnson; brothers, Cherry Johnson, Larry Johnson, Terry Johnson; parents, James Grover and Ruby Lee (Hawkins) Johnson.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Rita S. Thomas, Sande and Ronald Palecek; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kathy Hall, all of Covington; brother and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Laura Johnson of Conyers, Jane Johnson of Jackson; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hall will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. J. Clifton Brown officiating and internment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, Tuesday, January 31, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
