Mattie (Middlebrooks) Bowden

Mattie (Middlebrooks) Bowden, 91, of Covington, went home to be with the Lord, November 3, 2017. She was born July 2, 1926 to the late Charlie and Elma (Ellis) Middlebrooks. Mrs. Bowden worked at Porterdale Mill and C & D Battery. She was a member of Gaither's United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Before she became ill, she enjoyed spending time with her friends at Newton County Senior Center. Mrs. Bowden was married to the father of her children, Howard (Son) Standard, for 27 years. She later married Charlie Bowden and was with him until his death in 1988. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Paige Segrest; sisters, Bessie Ellis, Ruby Fuller; brothers, Jack Middlebrooks, and A.R. Middlebrooks.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Quinton Champion; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Teresa Standard; grandchildren, Mark Lewis, Justin Champion, Jeremy Standard, Joey Standard, Heather Rodriguez; 8 great-grandchildren; as well as 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Bowden will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Danny Standard officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, Monday, November 6th, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Gaither's United Methodist Church, 1375 Newton Factory Bridge Road, Covington, GA 30014.
