Christine Wood

Christine Wood, age 80, of Covington, passed away November 8, 2014. "Nanny", as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was the matriarch of her family. She was one of Jehovah's witnesses, and would often fellowship with both the Covington and Oxford congregations. Mrs. Wood worked for the Newton County school system, in the cafeteria, for 40 years. She was a self-taught seamstress, enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook. Preceding her in death were her husband, Alex Wood; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mavine Goss; and her brother, William Graham.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Marcia Kidd, Kim Wood, Penny and Lee Foster; daughter at heart, Janine Rahming; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Garwood, Joan Schenk; brothers, Edward Graham, Wendell Graham, Ronald Graham; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Wood will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014, 1:00 PM, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2914 Fairview Road, in Covington, with Brother Leotha Roby officiating. A private interment will be held in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
